Unknown Internet Error Message

Servlet Error

I haven't received this one before. I was trying to access Byte's home page and received this error message. One source mentioned that it could mean that the server might have become overloaded, but the Error 500 portion of the error message usually points to the server having configuration problems. Is it possible that these two probabilities are the same? Probably.

Odd Folder Property Changes

I have recently have had some trouble writing to my USB drive. The first time this happened I suspected that my USB drive was not seated properly and reseated the device. When that didn’t work I just renamed the file. When it happened again I checked the properties of the folder and sure enough the Read Only property was checked.  I changed the properties to Archive and I was able to write to the folder without any difficulty.

To change folder and file properties simply right click on the file or folder, choose Properties and if needed uncheck the Read Only attribute box. Click the Apply button and OK on the Confirm Attribute Changes dialog box. If you have files and other directories within this folder the “Apply changes to this folder…” option should already be checked, but if it is not checked or if you do not want other files properties to change in your subdirectories then uncheck this option.

To change file properties from the command line you can you the Attrib command with its switches. The Attrib +A (path-file or folder name) /s /d would change the file or folders properties to archive and process all files and subdirectories with the folder with the same attribute.

Please see Computer Hope for a full description of this command and its switches.

I haven’t been able to find anything posted about this issue so all I can do for now is to take care of the symptom. Could it be Norton Anti-virus?

Mix Your Own Custom Colors in Dreamweaver

ColorCop

Although I tested this in Dreamweaver these techniques can be used in verity of image and web editors. To complete this project you are going to need to download a copy of Color Cop. Color Cop is a color picker that lets you isolate colors of digital images down to the pixel level.

With modern monitors able to produce 24 and 32 bit color, that is millions of color variations, web developers really don’t have to worry too much about using web safe colors. Web safe colors were the original 216 pallet of colors that were rendered by the monitors of that time.

All colors are made-up of different variations of three basic colors: Red, Green, and Blue. With Color Cop you can pick any color that you like from web pages or digital images. Using the color picker, pick a color from the page or image and Color Cop will produce RGB values and the hexadecimal number for the color selection. Simply attach the color value to the proper CSS style.

CSS Class

You can customize the color by tweaking the R-G-B values and using the corresponding hexadecimal number like you were directed above.

Image was taken with a Cannon Powershot down by the Schuylkill River. The Schuylkill River is about a mile from my home. The river is all not that high in most places, but is very low and you can see many rocks protruding out of the river.
