Kingston Goes MegaIt wasn't all that long ago when I purchased my first USB device. Although I don't remember the exact price I paid for it I do remember paying over twenty dollars for a Kingston 64MB USB drive. After carrying two six packs of floppies and having to use a file splitter to split some of my files over several floppies I was overjoyed to be able to leave those floppies at home and carry what I thought was a inexhaustible amount of storage around with me. Was I ever naive? I quickly realized that the amount and size of files one collects grows exponentially with the amount of storage capability one processes. Although you can never have too much storage capability it really doesn't matter how much storage capability you have because there is always a limit. Kingston has broken through and has surpassed the current 16GB USB storage capability with their 64GB drive. That happens to be a hundred times the capacity of my first Kingston USB drive. The price $177 is a bit steep right now, but as we all know the price of technology continues to fall. I just purchased an 8GB Kingston drive for twenty dollars and look forward to being able to purchase either a 32 or 64GB drive in the near future. |
