In Windows XP Home edition the initial account type that Windows creates is an Administrator account. Once set-up and registration is complete, if you haven’t already, you should create a password for this account. By not using a password you leave your system wide open for all types of security breaches.
- Click on Start and the Control Panel.
- Under Pick a category choose User Accounts
- Under Pick a task choose Change an account
- Choose the account you created during set-up
- Click on create a password
- Make sure that you choose a password that will not be easily
broken cracked
- Good passwords should be at least eight characters and made-up or alpha and numeric characters.
- Don’t use names, addresses, SOC, Ect.
- Don’t write them down and paste it under the keyboard
- Words and phrases that substitute a zeros for O’s are not too easy to crack, but should be easier to memorize.
