DATE: 28-June-2008 Setting-up a Lab for MCSA CertificationsHaving a working Server 2003 networked computer lab is essential to having the skills and knowledge to pass the various certifications needed for my MCSA. At the bare minimum I will need one computer running Windows XP Professional, and one with Server 2003. In addition having one or two other computers with Windows 2000, allowing me to create a workable network, would be would also be beneficial. At the present I have three computers, two desktops and one laptop. I am currently running Windows XP on my main desktop computer and Windows 2000 on my laptop. The other desktop computer is currently running Red Hat 9. The problem with this computer is that it sits in a walk-in closet and isn’t all that convenient to use. Although I could repurpose this system I do appreciate the ability of being able to get away from Windows from time to time. I will need to purchase two additional laptops. Using laptops will allow me to reconfigure my network quickly if needed. I will use the D-Link switch and cables I already have to network these new computer systems. |
