I suppose you have noticed my fascination with text editors. This is my tenth review of a text editor. I have always loved to write so I was naturally drawn to text editor’s right from the start of my computer use. QJot is a Rich Text Editor with all of the features you would expect from a RTF editor. QJot features font style, size changes, and the ability to change text and background colors. QJot also includes a ruler and the ability to change margins, case, and tabs. In addition, QJot also offers a word count, list sorting, and an option to keep QJot's window on top. Although QJot does not include a spell check it does include the ability to search for definitions from WebWord look-up, Google, or from Merriam’s online dictionary, but at the time of this review Google was the only source that worked. QJot has a decent find, the ability of protecting your files, and adding sub and super script formatting at the character level. All in all QJot offers a great feature rich interface. My only gripe with QJot is its lack of a spell check and its default 7 point font size. I must admit 7 points is getting a bit too hard to read. Additional Resources Wikipedia’s Article on Text Editors includes the history, types, typical features of text editors, and several other resource pages dealing with text editors. |
